>>>> INFORMATION

Past President Mary Ellen Jordan made several awards for this past year.

Membership Committee: Bill Lawrence reported that we have a new applicant.

Oratorical Contest is being headed up by Jeff Owens.

Directory is coming along with Jim Hayes and Dr. Jason Rich at the helm.

Christmas Trees: Mary Ellen Jordan said the trees have been ordered and we will sell Christmas Trees this year.

Safe Assured ID: It was agreed by all that we need to make this a club project, as opposed to a project for just a couple of people. The next big sign-up is Tuesday, October 24th at Eisenhower Elementary from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. We all need to take a turn at working these sign-ups.

Program committee reported that future programs include: October 18th Habitat for Humanity October 25th Combined Community Services, November 1st Islam November 8th Emergency Medical Services November 15th Head Start

Sergeant-at-Arms Jim Nesbitt, Merl Heckaman and Jeff Neumann entertained the club as they released many coins and bills into the coffers.

>>>> PROGRAM

YMCA Gymnastics / Kosco Kippers: Tonya Welsh showed us a slide show of the numerous programs the YMCA has to train children in different forms of gymnastics. The Pre-School group works on basic tumbling developing self confidence, coordination, and balance. There are 84 participants in this group, that includes children as young as 18 months. The Youth Gymnastics group includes children ages 6 and up. They vault, do the uneven bars and balance beam. There are 5 levels of this group of 47 participants. The Tumbling group is also ages 6 and up. They work on cheerleading. There are 26 participants in this group that includes 4 levels. For more competitive gymnastics the Y has a “Pre-Team” group that trains 2 times a week. From the “Pre-Team” group a participant can advance to the “Team” group that trains 3 to 4 times a week. In the last 2 years since Tonya has been working with the program the competitive groups have grown from 11 participants to 31.
