2008 Oratorical Contest Application

Friday, February 29th, 2008 6:30 P.M.

Zimmer World Headquarters
345 E Main Street, Warsaw, Indiana

Two Contests

1. Gender contests to qualify for college scholarships
2. Co-ed point contest for iPod prizes

The Warsaw Breakfast Optimist Club would like to invite you to participate in this year’s event.  It is scheduled to be held on February 29th, 2008 at the Zimmer Word Headquarters.  “Why Me? Why Not!… ”  is the theme for 2008.  It is our hope that you will join us.

The Optimist Club will judge speeches based on content and presentation to determine the top winners.  Locally, our contest is a co-ed contest with the top three point totals earning iPod prizes.  The zone and district levels of Optimist International offer only gender contests so the top finishing male and female locally will be sent to the zone level, and possibly the district level for the opportunity to win college scholarships.

If you are under the age of 16 as of December 31, 2007, you are eligible to participate.

The deadline to hand in speeches is February 27th, 2007.  Please note that, by rule, we are limited to 20 entries.  We will accept 20 entries and 5 alternates for the competition.  Due to the response to the contest last year there is a chance that we may fill these spots well in advance of the deadline.  If you are committed to participating we strongly encourage you to enter as soon as possible.

Sincerely

Erin Rowland / Jeff Owens

Put your entire music library into your pocket. Plus carry movies, TV shows, videos, games, podcasts, audio books, photos, and more than the fourth-generation 30GB iPod. More features in less space? Sounds like iPod. 60% brighter display Your album art, videos, photos, calendars, and now games will come alive with vibrant color thanks to the 60% brighter display.

Call it astonishing. Unbelievable. Impossible, even. Then pick it up and hold it in your hand. Take in the brilliant color display. Run your thumb around the Click Wheel. Put on the earbuds and turn up your music. That’s when everything becomes clear: It’s an iPod. It holds up to three days’ worth of music. It plays for up to 14 hours between battery charges. It carries your photos, podcasts and audiobooks. It syncs seamlessly with iTunes. 100-percent iPod. And then some.

Smaller than ever! Now made of sleek, durable anodized aluminum, the new iPod shuffle weighs in at about half an ounce and is less than half the size of the original.  Clip and go! Thanks to the simple built-in clip, you can carry up to 240 of your favorite songs on your shirt sleeve, waistband, anywhere.
